Car + Axe= VW
If Slash’s return into the limelight isn’t enough to grab someone’s attention, seeing him play guitar out of two columns of cars stacked three high, doors flung open may cause you too look up. Before it used to be a free toaster or blender, now it’s buy or lease a Rabbit, GTi, Beetle, or Jetta you’ll get a First Act Garage Master guitar to plug straight into the jack that plays though the car’s stereo; its called 'buy a car, get a guitar'. This built in ‘pre-amp’ is the first car-guitar, which I think is kind of along the same lines of the BMW with built in ipod hook up, but definelty more interactive. All this definitely makes it something original and different. Attracting the younger, more guitar-friendly folk, VW already has a pretty strong brand identity and it’s very recognizable, especially amongst the younger crowd.
After watching the commercial and being sent to the website, I found out that there is also another first, an ‘uber rock contest’ where people can send in their videos showcasing their guitar skills to win the chance to be a ‘rock god’. You can even go on the website and take some guitar lessons.
if you haven't seen it check it out at: youtube
